Elon Musk’s SpaceX successfully performed their first “static fire” test on Starship SN15 on Monday (April 26 ) at 5:57 pm EDT (2157 GMT). The stainless-steel vehicles three Raptor engines ignited briefly while the craft remained anchored to the ground at space Texas site, near the Gulf Coast hamlet of Boca China Village.
But SN15 (Serial No.15) won’t remain ground bound for too long. Today’s static fire was a key check out ahead of a high – altitude test flight, which will take the vehicle about 6.2 miles (10 kms) into the Texas skies expected in this week.
SpaceX is currently developing Starship to get people and cargo to the moon, Mars and other distinct destinations. And the gaint first stage booster is known as Super Heavy. SpaceX expects Starship and Super Heavy to be up and running soon; Musk recently said that he thinks the final system will be fully operational by 2023.
