In this era, children learn so much. Wait, I am not talking about coding or any advanced astrophysics. The learning attitude of children in this century is far different from their parents. They have access to a different world with just a login; that’s cyberspace. Naturally, you will be conscious about the development of your child’s social behavior, especially when digital learning turns out to be the new normal.
Kids are not aware of social skills at a tender age, but we can know their comfort and help them accordingly. Lacking social skills may lead children to stress; this may be due to an underlying inferiority complex, lack of confidence, etc. You can avoid such a situation with these kick-ass ideas, which will help your child to know themselves and their surroundings better.
Tell them that sharing is caring.
Kids may tend to be selfish about their belongings which is a natural tendency. They think that sharing their stuff will cut down their level of engagement or happiness. Never scold them in such a scenario; instead, try to educate them about the relevance of sharing as a social being and how it will sprout new bonds with other individuals. Praise them and give them credits or gifts when they willingly practice sharing.
Green tick for good manners.
Children take a lot of time to learn manners. It is hard for them to be a good kid all of a sudden. First of all, make them know what it means to be polite and respectful. Teach them the importance of words like please, thank you, sorry, etc., with examples of factual life circumstances. Make them do it whenever such a chance comes up. When you appreciate the kid, they will try to get more compliments by doing it more often, and gradually it will sink into their behavior.
The magic of storytelling
Everyone loves stories, particularly kids. They love to tell and listen to fascinating as well as exciting stories. Now what you should do is to teach moral and social elements in them. Also, allow the kids to talk their minds in the form of stories, poems, etc. Clarify their doubts and familiarize them with everything they see and experience around. Making flashcards on different story topics or storytelling based on props is effective in developing their imagination.
Play indoor and outdoor games
For indoor games include board games like snakes and ladder. Board games involve a lot of patience, sticking to rules and turns, negotiation, etc. Arrange games that suit the age and interest of your child, make it easier, and gradually level up as they grasp it. Games also teach the child the importance of resilience and enthusiasm. Tell them that it is OK to lose if they were fair in the game; this invisibly plays a role in developing ethics and credibility. Moreover, this will encourage them to mingle more without thinking about failure.
Don’t try to overwhelm your child with bits of advice and lectures on social behaving; listen to them and give them practical solutions and guidance. Please get to know their companions and friend circle. Help them to have mental well-being and an age-appropriate understanding of society and its behavior.
